FLINT -- Flint's political leaders, educators and former sports stars are encouraging the community to unite in an effort make native son Mark Ingram the first-ever Heisman Trophy winner at the University of Alabama.
The sophomore tailback - averaging a staggering 6.8 yards per carry this season - is among a handful of legitimate contenders for the most coveted individual honor in all of college football. The former Grand Blanc and Flint Southwestern standout needs your support as he seeks to become the first man in the history of the storied Crimson Tide program to win the Heisman.
"I'm not even being biased. When you go out and watch the way he plays the game and the things that he does out there on that field, you've gotta vote for Mark Ingram," said fellow Flint native Mateen Cleaves, an NCAA basketball champion in 2000 with Michigan State. "If you watch college football, please go out and vote for Mark Ingram. He really deserves it."
