UBLY -- After falling one win short of a state title last year, the Ubly Bearcats appear hell-bent on completing their mission this season.

In a Division Seven state quarterfinal matchup, the Bearcats dominated yet another foe, breezing past Petersburg-Summerfield by a 42-20 final on Saturday night.  The victory puts the Bearcats in the state semi-finals for the second consecutive year, where they will battle Hudson at Ortonville-Brandon next Saturday at 1 p.m.

In Division Eight, Beal City had no problem with Waterford Our Lady, disposing of the Lakers by a 41-0 final.  The Aggies will travel to Grand Rapids next weekend to take on powerhouse Muskegon Catholic Central, Saturday at 1 p.m.

The upset of the day took place in Division Three, where Ogemaw Heights shocked previously-unbeaten Mt. Pleasant at Kelly/Shorts Stadium by a 35-28 final.  Just as they were on Saturday, the Falcons will again be an underdog in their semi-final matchup, as they will oppose East Grand Rapids next Saturday night right back at Kelly/Shorts for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

With Clare's 20-7 victory over Menominee on Saturday, Mid-Michigan schools are guaranteed to a have a Division Five representative at Ford Field in the state finals.  The Pioneers will face Millington next weekend at Midland Community Stadium at 1 p.m. for the right to play for a state title.

Finally, in Division Four, Swan Valley kept their dream season alive with a 35-21 victory over Kingsford.  The Vikings will have their work cut out for them next weekend, though, as they will face Three Rivers in East Kentwood, Saturday at 1 p.m.
