GENESEE TWP. -- The Genesee and Mt. Pleasant football teams clearly demonstrated why they each went through the regular season undefeated.
In Division Seven, the Genesee Wolves overwhelmed visiting Brown City by a 43-8 final. The Green Devils closed to within a 22-8 deficit in the third quarter, but the Wolves scored 21 unanswered points to put the game away. Genesee will travel to Ubly for the second round of the playoffs for the second consecutive year, and look for redemption against a Bearcat squad which crushed them last year and unceremoniously ended the Wolves' 2008 season. Both schools are 10-0 this season.
Elsewhere, in Division Three, North Branch proved no match for powerhouse Mt. Pleasant, as the Oilers cruised to a 47-12 victory in a game played at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. That victory sets up another showdown between a pair of 10-0 teams, as the Oilers will battle Flint Metro champion Linden.
In Division Eight, Deckerville was bounced by Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes in a tight battle, 30-28. Waterford will battle New Lothrop next weekend.
