"I love my mom that died," said 5 year old Laron at the Joy Tabernacle Church in Flint, Wednesday night.

His mom is the victim of a quadruple shooting that happened Sunday morning on Mackin.

35-year-old Jelila Carter, her best friend 35-year-old Quintina Smith, and a man whose name police have not released died.  A fourth victim suffered gunshot wounds.

The shooting leaves 13 children without a mother.  Carter had seven children, and Smith six.

Joy Tabernacle Church Rev. Sherman McCathern is asking the community to come together to fight violence.   Both Carter and Smith attended his church.

McCathern says the mayor will speak at a youth event Friday - aimed at encouraging kids to turn away from violence.  It takes place at 3:30 and all area youth are invited.

Funeral arrangments are pending.
