"I just want to protect them in case something happens," said Jensen.

It is something safety experts say every parent should have on hand; and one of the most important tools law enforcement needs to find a missing child...a child identification kit.

"It's complete with the information about the child; fingerprints; a bite plate for DNA a dental imprint; a still photo and a short movie for voice recognition that all gets burned onto a disk and given to the parents.  If the child comes up missing for any reason, they just hand the package to the police, and it's everything they need to be found," said Bill Camp, Child Identification Regional Coordinator.

The kits allow parents to keep on record all physical characteristics and fingerprints of their children on a CD that is kept at home.

Something father of two Todd Jensen says is easy to do.

"They take a picture and they take some fingerprints and put it on a CD for you," Jensen said.

The id kit is a useful search tool for the safe recovery of a missing child.

"Some parents had part of the package with them they gave it to the police at the mall and they found the child within three hours, it’s better to not have it...or better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it," said Camp.
