FLINT -- Governor Jennifer Granholm was in Mid-Michigan Tuesday talking about major budget cuts.
The governor met with local officials Tuesday. The City of Flint could lose around 2.7 million dollars in state aid from reduced revenue sharing.
Governor Granholm says this large cut would affect public safety the most. "If we as a state end up harming our ability to protect our citizens because of the budget crisis we're facing, then we're going backwards. We're not going to address the job situation by inviting job providers to a state that has public safety jeopardized," Governor Granholm says.
President Obama is asking congress to reassign tarp money to preserve police, fire, and teaching jobs but that would be a one-time fix.
