FLINT -- A Genesee County Drain Commission worker is in police custody after for abusing and neglecting his elderly mother.

Sheriff Robert Pickell reports David Ribarchik neglected to take care of his 75 year old mother, Milfred Ribarchik, leaving her alone in her chair for at least two months in her Maple Rd., Swartz Creek home.

The woman’s husband died last year, and she was left in Ribarchik’s care.

The sheriff reports Ribarchik left the home so filthy, Milfred could not get around with her walker and was forced to stay in her chair.  There was approximately four feet of garbage on the floor.  The toilet in the bathroom did not work, and the shower did not work either.  The sheriff says there were at least 500 beer bottles scattered across the house.

On November 21, 2009 Milfred fell out of the chair, and she remained there three days until someone called 911.

When the paramedics arrived they were appalled at the conditions.  Ribarchik was taken into custody.  He was arraigned Wednesday morning on first degree abuse charges.
