The 13th annual holiday campaign kicks off at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
Supporters from all over the area filled the food bank's warehouse to see this year's goal of feeding every hungry family.
Experts say, nationwide, 35 million people don't have enough nutritional food to eat.
Local leaders say, the community has stepped up every year and exceeded every goal.
Food Bank of Eastern Michigan president William Kerr says, "The first year we started this campaign, we raised $64,000. Last year, we raised $745,000 in a 6-week period. That shows you something about our community."
This year's goal is $775,000.
Because of it's buying power, the food bank can buy $14 worth of food for every dollar given.
