When medical marijuana became legal in Michigan, John Roberts applied for cards right away.
“I've been treating myself with medical marijuana for over 9 years,” says the Tri-City Compassion Club leader. “I have a chronic liver disorder and its improved my life immensely.”
He's now using his experience to grow marijuana for himself and five patients. It is a timely process, so when several weeks ago someone broke into his facility and stole his crop-- he and his patients felt devastated.
He called police, but the thieves got away. He’s since spent a lot of money on a new security system to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Roberts isn't the only caretaker who has been robbed. He suspects someone followed him from a compassion club meeting.
“I am at the compassion club. I'm known to be a caregiver, and that is a possibility.”
He’s warning other caretakers and patients to be cautious.
