Flint police say they found a missing baby safe and sound after a father called 911 to report that someone stole his car with the child in the back seat.

Police say they believe it was all a hoax, aimed at manipulating investigators into a massive search for a missing car.

Police issued an amber alert after Ronald Poledore claimed someone stole a car he left running at McKinley Middle School with the child in the back seat.

Investigators later found the child safe at home.

The father is under arrest, and police say he will face charges.  They say they hope this incident doesn't discourage the public from taking amber alerts seriously in the future.
