The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Adventure Playsets are recalling a popular backyard playset after several children have been hurt by falls.
The plastic coated lumber on the horizontal ladder portion of the swing beam, also considered the "monkey bars", can weaken over time due to the rotting whitewood material, putting children at risk of a fall.
Adventure Playsets received at least 1,400 reports of rotting wood and 16 injuries that ranged from arm fractures to bruises in children under 8 years old.
The sets were sold at Walmart, Toys-R-Us, Academy Sports, Menards and Mill Stores nationwide.
Owners can contact Adventure Playsets toll-free at (877) 840-9068, or visit the firm's web site at www.adventureplaysets.com. Consumers can also visit the CPSC website at http://www.cpsc.gov
