BURTON -- Just in time for the holiday shopping season there's a class teaching women parking lot safety.
Advance Ranges Incorporated in Burton is holding public safety classes for women.
The classes are taught by local police and military experts in the field of self defense.
Organizers say their goal is to teach women how to prevent attacks in the parking lot.
"We're just basically emphasizing safety and that people don't have to be victims. We're teaching self awareness as well as situational awareness. We want to teach people to be very weary of their environment," said Karl Carlysle, self-defense instructor.
