A woman’s body has been recovered near Au Gres, but it is uncertain as to whether it is that of Catherine Nativite Hoskinson, 48, of Madison Heights.

Hoskinson was last heard from on Sept. 20.

The body was found Saturday at 5:40 p.m. near the Gravely Shoals Light in Saginaw Bay, near Au Gres in Arenac County. It is nearly 25 miles west of the Pt. Crescent State Park Day Use Unit.

Hosiknson’s daughter was called to describe the clothing and jewelry that the body had on. The daughter indicated that those items sounded familiar and it was assumed that Arenac officials recovered the missing person.

Hoskinson’s sister then went to identify the body. But, according to a Huron County Sheriff Deputy, there was trouble identifying the body. Apparently, there was jewelry in question and definite questions about body features.

Arenac County officials now say they are handling the body find as a “Jane Doe” situation. They are going to be obtaining dental records and will continue their investigation.

There is no information of other missing females on Lake Huron just as the Huron County Sheriff’s Office has no knowledge of any other missing females on Lake Huron. Searches will resume today around the shoreline near Pt. Crescent. However, winds are expected to hamper operations over the next few days.

Anyone who might have been at the day use park on Sunday, Sept. 20 and can recall seeing a lone white female, 5-foot-7 in height, approximately 145 pounds, with blonde hair and green eyes, is asked to call (989) 269-6421.
