CASEVILLE -- An 83 year old man is dead after a car crash.

The Huron County Sheriff’s Department reports a Thomas Kuhl of Bay City found a man crashed into a tree on M-25 near Oak Point in Caseville Twp.  Kuhl stated when he arrived at the scene there was much smoke and dust, indicating the accident must have recently occurred.

Deputies arrived and identified the man as Bernard F. Wiechert of Caseville.  Mr. Wiechart was pronounced dead at the scene.

After further investigation, it appeared Mr. Wiechart was driving northbound when he crossed across M-25, impacted with a power pole guide wire, and then smashed into a tree.

There were no marks on the road and no other vehicles were in the area, so police believe the accident may have been caused by a medical issue. An autopsy will be performed.
