WASHINGTON — U.S. Sens. Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin, both D-Mich., announced today that eight Michigan Fire Departments have been awarded $371,120 through the Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP).  The funding will be used to support operations and firefighter safety, training, personal protective equipment, as well as health and safety modifications to stations and facilities.

“Our firefighters and first responders are constantly putting their lives on the line to protect the safety of others,” Stabenow said. “This funding will provide these courageous men and women with the tools necessary to keep themselves safe as well.”

“These federal dollars will help purchase the firefighting vehicles and personal protective equipment that Michigan’s firefighters and first responders need to do their jobs safely and effectively,” said Levin. “Communities throughout Michigan depend on the protection our firefighters provide, and this funding will help them prepare for the dangers they face on a daily basis.”

The AFGP awards grants directly to fire departments and EMS organizations to improve the effectiveness of operations and health and safety programs, and to establish or expand fire prevention programs throughout the United States.  These awards aim to enhance first responders’ ability to protect the health and safety of the public.  Grants are awarded competitively through an application process.  More information can be found at http://www.firegrantsupport.com/.

Apperently citizen U has nothing better to do than post on these websites. My question is how much money can we give to Hiawatha Township???? Check their record of AFG grants and crap, they even got a ladder truck from this grant process. What in the heck does a small township fire department without anything higher than a two story house in their township need a ladder truck for? Chimney fires LMAO. Oh yeah they got that truck ahead of other departments who NEED trucks to replace their unsafe trucks but lets give it to hiawatha twp to expand into a new mission. Arrrghhhh!

Alright Citizen......................
