You could call a new option available to some students as thinking outside of the classroom. The Genesee County Intermediate School District has created an option for students who want to graduate on-time, but are unable to attend class. The district says it’s now capable of hosting 10% of its students who need to get their education exclusively online. Officials say the program adapts to the students needs, plus allows them to get the requirements they need outside of the traditional classroom.
Lisa Hagel, of Mt Morris Schools, tells NBC25 "If you've had an unfortunate situation, someone's been expelled or suspended; parents are at a loss, what can you do? This will give us an immediate answer, we can continue to educate the student and they can graduate on time."
The program offers 600 online courses to choose from.
