It was a packed room at University of MIichigan Flint's University Center with nearly two hundred people showing up to catch the only televised showdown between Mayor Don Williamson and challenger Dayne Walling...
From laughing to applause, everyone listened closely sizing up the candidates like Flint resident and Walling supporter Bruce Macdonald who thought williamson bombed "he came off as tired and incoherent and evasive." However MacDonald thought Walling shined, "he was to the point. He's got a lot more vision and he's more direct."
Williamson supporter Joyce Lee tells NBC 25 News even though Walling may be a better public speaker, his inexperience shows through too much, "he doesn't have the experience to work with the different councilman and knowing where their affiliates lie and how to get everybody to work on the same page."
Flint resident Dick Kraft doesn't think Williamson knows how to do that either. "He's an excellent businessman when he can dictate everything, but to run the city you need partnerships. That's something Kraft says Williamson hasn't been able to do.
Most of the people NBC 25 spoke with thought both candidates had highs and lows during this showdown, but the majority of this watch party hought one of the candidate clearly walked away a winner from this battle and that was Dayne Walling.
"I thought the debate was 100 percent Walling he answered the questions better and I thought he had a better plan for Flint," said Kraft.
Election day is November 6th.
