Kawkawlin, Michigan -- A greenhouse near the Weiss Fruit Market on 2807 S. Huron Road (M-13) in Kawkawlin caught fire early Wednesday morning.

The greenhouse contained 1,000 bales of straw, which were to be sold for the Halloween season.

Kawkawlin firefighters were called to the scene at about 2:30 Wednesday morning.

Because the dry straw aided in the blaze, firefighters decided to let the fire burn itself out. The fire was out late Wednesday morning.

M-13 was shut down for more than an hour but has reopened.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation but officials have deemed the blaze suspicious.

The metal structure remained intact but the canopy and the bales of straw inside are completely gone.

The market, located on the east side of the property, was not damaged.
