(AP) -- State police have identified a 16-year-old boy and his 66-year-old grandfather from Gaylord who drowned in Lake Michigan off the eastern Upper Peninsula. State police tell The Evening News of Sault Ste. Marie large breakers pulled Ethan Mroz out into the lake Saturday off Mackinac County's Moran Township. They say Patrick Dipzinski tried to rescue his grandson but also was pulled into the water.

People on the shore retrieved both victims, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation was started. The two were pronounced dead at a hospital.

I just read again this article and can't help but be so sad about this. What a horrible thing to happen to a family. This Grandfather is such a hero. Those poor people on the shore who witnessed this...my thoughts are with everyone involved and my heart aches.
