Work continues on Jared's home.
It’s a Good Friday for members of a Fenton Family. Its youngest member who’s dealing with cancer is almost ready to move home.
Jared Marsh gets another look at his home in Fenton; it’s been a few months since he’s lived here. He says “It looks a lot different. There's a big addition in the new room. I'm really excited to be back in."
The problem is 8 year old Jared has childhood non-hodgkinds lymphoma. It’s a type of cancer affecting his immune system. The cancer may be in remission, but he still can’t come home until dramatic improvements are made to his house. Just about everywhere are signs about how dangerous it is for Jared to live in his home. That meant a lot of work had to be done to basically rebuild it. And that work is nearly done.
Volunteers have spent the last few months getting the house redone so Jared and his family can live here again. Members of the non-profit group Restoration.net led the effort. The problem was it takes $70,000 to complete the work. Project organizers say they now have the money.
"It just surprises me so many people I never knew pitched in to help repair my home, and help me move back in." But, Jared and his family will have to wait until all the repairs are finished, which should take about 2 more weeks.
Project organizers say they are looking or a professional cleaning crew to help get the house ready for Jared and his family.
