ROSCOMMON -- The Roscommon Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a 1 year old boy.
EMS was called to an apartment complex in Denton Township on April 8, 2009 at which a boy was reportedly suffering from an allergic reaction. Upon arrival, authorities discovered that the boy had severe burns on his body.
After further investigation, it was discovered the boy’s care giver had given the child a bath in extremely hot water.
The boy was taken to West Branch Regional Hospital, and later flown to Hurley Medical Center in Flint. On April 9th, the baby died from the burns.
Authorities arrested the caregiver on unrelated charges and he is awaiting arraignment at the Roscommon County jail. Police are further investigating the incident.
The child’s mother was not at home during the time of the incident, but she had in fact left the child with the male care-giver.
An autopsy will be performed later this week.
