BAY COUNTY -- The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives says gun sales have tripled since the election of Barack Obama because people fear Obama will tighten gun restrictions. Michigan gun shop owner Glenn Duncan says he's seen a sales spike too,  "in the last two weeks, the owner of Duncan's Outdoor Shop in Bay City says sales have doubled. They're (buyers) worried if they don't buy them not they won't be able to get them."

Senator Barack Obama does support a ban on carrying concealed weapons and a ban on assault weapons. Duncan tells NBC25 that scares hunters "that's what deer hunters use that's what duck hunters use and so it kind of scares a lot of people right now." NBC25 caught up with Doug Krentz, he's a verteran who stand firm on his right to bear arms, "I'm not going to give up my guns for anybody. I took an oath in 1965 to defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic."

Hunting and self defense are fine reasons to own a firearm, but that was not the purpose of the 2nd amendment.

If you read the statements of our founding fathers, the primary purpose was to protect from an overreaching government. Thomas Jefferson made that explicitly clear with many of his statements.

French fries kill more people through cholesterol and obesity than guns do a year. Automobilrs kill more people a year than people get killed with guns.

People kill people, Guns don't kill people.

Im not worried about Obama's stance on guns. Its the person holding the gun that kills. With new ways to check people history guns can be denied to some people. Most people that own gun use them for hunting and self protection in the home.
