FLUSHING -- 14-year-old Cherokee Ward passed away Friday, March 14th. Cherokee lost her battle with lukemia following complications with a bone marrow transplant. Now friends and family members are remembering Cherokee's Journey Home; it's a website created in honor of the Flushing teen who touched dozens of lives.

Friends and family are planning a celebration of life Saturday, March 22nd. It will be held at the Church of the Nazarene on Pierson Road, in Flushing. The service starts at 2:00pm; everyone is invited to remeber Cherokee. Anyone interested in helping Cherokee's family pay for services may make a donation at any Franklin Bank.

NBC25 first introduced you to Cherokee last July. We profiled her courageous struggle with cancer and improvements done to her home by our partners Goyette Residential.
