Parishioners on Patrol/Peace Lutheran Joint Pancake Breakfast

Parishioners On Patrol is an exciting initiative in Saginaw. POPS, is a faith-based organization collaborating with the Saginaw Police Department to combat crime and violence. POPS’ mission is to bring peace to the streets of Saginaw. This initiative began on Saginaw’s Southside and is expanding to reach the whole city. We are headquartered at the Sunoco Station at Hess and Sheridan, with a satellite office in the St. Paul Townhouse Complex.

POPS was the brainchild of Pastor Larry Camel and Councilman Amos O’Neal. The men had a vision of seeing Saginaw as a safe environment for families to live, work, play and learn, allowing Saginaw to become a great place for youth to develop, grow, prosper and coexist with others. To date the initiative has grown to 70 members strong. These Christian men and women work together with the Saginaw Police Department to combat the crime and violence in the streets of Saginaw. The members are committed to a nonviolent movement designed to bring peace to the streets of Saginaw by reinforcing love and respect for human life.

The initiative has been perceived as positive by the community and the policing officials alike. While POPS, has human capital (with a strongly committed membership), financial needs exist. To assist POPS to meet their financial needs, Peace Lutheran Church is sponsoring a Pancake Breakfast for Parishioners on Patrol on Sunday, June 1, after the 9:30 service and after the 11:15 service.
Please come to Peace Lutheran Church located at 3427 Adams Ave., at Mackinaw.
