Matt Waymire

Matt was hired as a Sports Anchor/Reporter in September of 2008. Prior to NBC25, he spent 3 1/2 years at WICZ-TV, Fox 40 in Binghamton, NY. He served as Sports Director for the final two years of his tenure at Fox, covering everything from high school sports to the AHL's Binghamton Senators and the Binghamton Mets, New York's Double-A affiliate.

Thanks to Mapquest and some very helpful gas station attendants, Matt is finding his way around Mid-Michigan and is quickly coming to appreciate the diverse sports landscape at his disposal. His position at NBC25 is an ideal fit for him, as he stays connected to his small-town roots by covering high school sports, while also being exposed to the big-time college and pro sports which are just a short drive away.

Though Matt has no fan allegiances to any Michigan teams, he is hoping that his devotion to his beloved Boston Red Sox will be more accepted here than it was in his native New York.

In his spare time, Matt enjoys exercising and exploring the many channels of his XM Satellite Radio. He is looking forward to helping provide quality sports coverage for the viewers of Mid-Michigan.
